Studio Principles

Our Studio Is Guided By The Following Principles

Zero Waste

Equipment at OR Yoga is made either from recycled materials, biodegradable materials, or both. Our equipment (mats, straps, blocks, towels) are all top grade. We do not produce waste or sell products that harm the environment.

Cleanliness

OR Yoga is immaculately clean. We only use natural products like alcohol, vinegar, and essential oils, to clean our equipment and space: safe for you and the planet. Students spray and wipe down mats after every class, and mats are washed on a regular basis.

Radical Inclusivity

Classes are open to everyone, regardless of race, religion, gender, or ethnicity. All classes are offered in English, with teachers who can also provide Hebrew or Spanish, translation. We see more languages in our studio as a welcoming and powerful builder of community and an international, welcoming feeling.

Empowering Teachers

OR Yoga prides itself on the idea of teachers never paying for the use of space. Our model is simple: a small percentage goes to the studio, with most of the proceeds of a class going directly to the teacher. We seek teachers starting their careers and looking to build experience, who at the same time have developed a high level of knowledge in their personal practices.

Community

OR Yoga is more than just a studio: we are a community. People come to interact, meet and make friends, and practice in a positive and happy space. We support each other both in and outside of the studio in leading happier, healthier, and more abundant lives.

Social Change

If we only practice yoga for ourselves, we believe we are missing something. OR Yoga aims to be a vehicle for social change: in Jerusalem and beyond. We support and partner with like-minded organizations, working together toward a better future for us all.

Yoga

Our studio focuses on yoga and yoga alone, and we dedicate the space to yoga. We make special exception for donation-based classes as fundraisers for organizations working toward social/environmental change, as well as for meals and community gatherings.

Healthy Living

We aim to be a center of healthy living, encouraging healthy choices and supporting each other through community. Through clean and nutritious food, minimalism and de-cluttering, environmentalism and sustainability, we focus on all forms of natural and healthy self-care.

No Competition

"From one yoga studio, come many yoga studios." Our studio encourages the creation of studios/classes in and around Jerusalem, supports teachers throughout the city, and helps foster a stronger, larger Jerusalem yoga community.

Accessibility

Yoga is for everyone, regardless of income. Through mindful and reasonable pricing, everyone is able to afford classes. No one will be turned away from classes if they are truly unable to pay.
