Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT SHOULD I BRING FOR CLASS?
Mats are always free and clean at OR Yoga and we provide high-quality mats for every student. We do not sell bottled water, but offer water and cups. You can also refill your bottle at the studio. For sweatier classes, please bring a towel to help with any slipping. We also offer special yoga towels to prevent slipping.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Simple, breathable clothing that allows for full range of motion. An outfit one would wear jogging on a warm day will work well for most of our active classes. However, it may be nice to have a few more layers for Gentle-Restorative classes where there is less/no vigorous movement. No shoes are allowed in the yoga room, and we recommend removing socks during practice.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?
Please arrive roughly 10-15 minutes early for your first visit. This will allow enough time for registration and a brief orientation or questions before class begins. We encourage you to sign in online which will save you time at check-in and secure your space in class: ORyoga.org/schedule Doors open 15 minutes prior to the start of class.
HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE IN CLASS? WILL I GET PERSONAL ATTENTION?
We are a neighborhood studio which holds up to 10 students depending on the class. Our teachers typically offer hands-on adjustments & assists during class, however we always ask for consent. Please don't hesitate to ask us about this if you have any questions or concerns regarding adjustments/assists.
WHERE CAN I PARK?
Parking is free on most of the surrounding streets near the studio. You can also come by bus (lines 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, 22) or by bicycle. There are many places to lock up your bike around the entrance to the studio.
WHAT KIND OF PAYMENTS DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept and prefer cash, with payments in the studio. We also accept payments through PayBox, PayPal, Bit, Check or Bank Transfer. You will always receive a receipt upon request.
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR CLASS?
Signing up for class is quick, simple, and makes showing up to practice an easy seamless process. You can check the schedule online and register at ORyoga.org/schedule. This will ensure your space in class is held as some of our classes, especially evening classes, can fill up quickly.
WHAT TYPE OF CLASS SHOULD I ATTEND?
There is a class for everyone at OR Yoga! Please take a look at our class descriptions and our online class schedule to see our current offerings: ORyoga.org/classes
If you new to yoga, we recommend starting with one of our Hatha classes or trying a Gentle-Restorative, before trying a Vinyasa class.
DO YOU OFFER CHILDCARE? CAN I BRING MY KID TO CLASS WITH ME?
We do not offer childcare at OR Yoga nor can we allow any unsupervised minors to wait in the lobby during classes.
I HAVE AN INJURY, CAN I STILL PRACTICE YOGA?
That depends. What did your doctor/physical therapist/health care provider say?
While we'd like to tell you that yoga will always heal you, we simply can't make those kinds of promises. Many students find yoga to be a helpful resource when working through an injury but it depends on the specifics and severity. Please consult with your health care provider and let your teacher know what is going on so that we can work through any necessary modifications for class. We are here to help, but we are not qualified to diagnose any injuries or illness, so your physician and your own intuition are the first places to turn when working with an injury.
I'M PREGNANT, CAN I STILL COME TO CLASS? WHICH ONE WOULD BE BEST FOR ME?
Yes! We offer Prenatal group classes and private lessons. Additionally, if you have been practicing yoga with us for some time, you can join us in our regular classes. If you have any questions regarding yoga during your pregnancy please reach out to our teacher Desi Or, who specializes in Pre and Postnatal yoga. Note: Pregnant women are welcome in Vinyasa classes only after a meeting and consultation with Desi Or.
CAN I BOOK A PRIVATE OR SMALL GROUP YOGA SESSION?
Of course! Working one-on-one is a great way to delve into the unique needs of your practice with a teacher. Please reach out to any of our experienced teachers to schedule a private or small group yoga session. More information can be found at ORyoga.org/privatelessons
