Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT SHOULD I BRING FOR CLASS?
Yourself! Mats are always free and clean at OR Yoga and we provide high-quality mats for every student. You can refill your water bottle at the studio. We do not sell bottled water. For sweatier classes, please bring a towel to help with any slipping. We also offer special yoga towels to prevent slipping.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Simple, breathable clothing that allows for full range of motion. An outfit one would wear jogging will work well for most of our active classes. However, it may be nice to have a few more layers for Soft Yoga classes where there is less/no vigorous movement. No shoes are allowed in the yoga room, and we recommend removing socks during practice.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?
Please arrive roughly 10-15 minutes early for your first visit. This allows time for registration and a brief orientation or questions before class begins. We encourage you to sign in online which will save you time at check-in and secure your space in class. Doors open 15 minutes prior to the start of class.
HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE IN CLASS? WILL I GET PERSONAL ATTENTION?
We are a neighborhood studio with up to 7 students per class. Teachers typically offer hands-on adjustments and assists during class, however we always ask for consent. Please don't hesitate to ask us about this if you have questions or concerns regarding adjustments/assists.
WHERE CAN I PARK?
Parking is free on the surrounding streets near the studio. You can also come by bus (lines 13, 14, 15, 22, 22A, 90, 91) or by bicycle. There are many places to lock your bike around the entrance to the studio.
WHAT KIND OF PAYMENTS DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept and prefer cash, with payments in the studio. We also accept payments through PayBox, PayPal, Bit, Check or Bank Transfer. You will always receive a receipt upon request.
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR CLASS?
Signing up for class is quick, simple, and makes showing up to practice an easy seamless process. You can check the schedule online and register at ORyoga.org/schedule. This will ensure your space is held as some of our classes can fill up quickly.
WHAT TYPE OF CLASS SHOULD I ATTEND?
There is a class for everyone at OR Yoga! Please take a look at our class descriptions and class schedule to see our current offerings: ORyoga.org/classes
If you are new to yoga, we recommend starting with Hatha or Soft classes, before trying a Vinyasa class.
FROM WHAT AGE CAN I ATTEND CLASSES?
Classes are open to those 18 and above. Students under 18 must have written approval from a parent or guardian to attend class. Unfortunately we are unable to allow children to wait in the lobby unattended.
I HAVE AN INJURY, CAN I STILL PRACTICE YOGA?
That depends. What did your doctor/physical therapist/health care provider say?
Many students find yoga to be a helpful resource when working through an injury but it depends on the specifics and severity. Please consult with your health care provider and let your teacher know what is going on so we can work through any necessary modifications for class. We are here to help, but we are not qualified to diagnose any injuries or illness, so your physician and your own intuition are the first places to turn when working with an injury.
I'M PREGNANT, CAN I STILL COME TO CLASS? WHICH ONE WOULD BE BEST FOR ME?
Yes! We offer Prenatal group classes and private lessons. Additionally, if you have been practicing yoga with us for some time, you can join us in our regular classes. If you have any questions regarding yoga during your pregnancy please reach out to our teacher Desi Or, who specializes in Pre and Postnatal yoga. Note: Pregnant women are welcome in Vinyasa classes only after a meeting and consultation with Desi Or.
CAN I BOOK A PRIVATE OR SMALL GROUP YOGA SESSION?
Of course! Working one-on-one is a great way to delve into the unique needs of your practice with a teacher. Please reach out to schedule a private or small group yoga session. More information can be found at ORyoga.org/privatelessons
